By now many art lovers have heard the story of Herb and Dorothy Vogel, two ordinary folks from New York who have managed to amass an extensive collection of contemporary art on a shoestring budget. The couple has donated hundreds of paintings to the National Gallery of Art and some of the remaining works in their collection to all 50 states. Each state has received 50 pieces. This month the Boise Art Museum opens a show of the artworks donated to the museum. The presentation includes drawings, paintings, and sculptures.

Horse HeART Art and Wild Horses! Horse HeART celebrates both, with a juried exhibit of equine art that evokes the resilience and spirit of mustangs and a fundraiser to benefit the Let 'Em Run Foundation. Zapata Ranch Painting Workshop: Landscape, Figure, Wildlife This February, Zapata Ranch will open it's doors for our first annual painting workshop. Led by Denver area-based and multi-award winning artist Lani Vlaanderen, this long weekend will be packed with 3 full days of instructional workshop where students will have the opportunity to paint from a live cowboy model, wildlife including bison, horses and cattle, as well as the unique San Luis Valley landscape. A great studio space is available for those not wanting to brave the elements and painting from photos is permitted. This is a great opportunity to gather reference from an actual working ranch and receive instruction on how to express your experience in paint.
