GENDRON JENSEN: STONE LITHOGRAPHY In honor of Tamarind Institute's 50th Anniversary, the Harwood Museum of Art is pleased to present Gendron Jensen's entire opus of stone lithgraphic collaborations to date. Over half of Jensen's printmaking projects have been accomplished at the Tamarind Institute, an internationally recognized lithography workshop affiliated with the University of New Mexico since 1970. Jensen, 70 years old, is a largely self-taught artist, He works primarily in the medium of graphite pencil on paper, which visually bears a close affinity with the exacting discipline of litho crayon on a carefully ground stone surface. In 1989, having been chosen among seven regional artists for the Tamarind program “Explore Lithography,” Jensen began the long adventure that is fully surveyed in this exhibition. |

James Klebau’s photography, Larry Ogan’s Southwest landscapes, and Paula Wenzl Bellacera's prolific oil paintings: “Fiesta For The Eyes” James Klebau’s photography is often described as mysterious, beautiful and timeless. Larry Ogan’s Southwest landscapes are bold, crisp depictions of the environs of New Mexico; sharply- focused, tightly cropped, expressing the stark, arid landscapes with emotion and clarity. Paula Wenzl Bellacera, a part- time Santa Fean and prolific oil painter, expresses her love of cacti and her cacti garden at her studio in her recent works. |

T Barny & Gregory Frank Harris T Barny creates striking stone sculptures of seashell-like forms and trademark curvilinear shapes in Utah Calcite, Greek and Spanish Marble, Brazilian Wonderstone, and New Mexican Alabaster. Barny invites visitors to see and touch the silky smooth textures of his sculpture in order to explore the wonder created by man and nature. / Gregory Frank Harris has painted in a number of styles and genres thus far in his career. “My art and influences are all inclusive,” he says. Among the varied influences on his painting, Harris cites Wolf Kahn, Eric Aho and Stuart Shils. “These painters,” he states, “like myself, are taking the visual language of landscape and pushing it into abstraction.” |
